King of the world

"He changed the world of sports and went on to change the world.... He would become the most recognized face on the planet"

During a famous fight he kept asking his oponent, and I quote, "What's my name, Uncle Tom ... What's my name?"

Who is he? What did he want his opponent to call him and what had the opponent called him?

He = Muhammad Ali

Ali wanted his opponent to call him by his real name Cassius Clay..

I guess his opponent might have called him by some nickname or surname which Ali clearly dint appreciate...

He is the incomparable Ali, Muhammad Ali! His opponent insisted on calling him Cassius Clay, Ali's original and in his view, slave name. He obviously wanted his opponent to call him Ali.

My guess is Muhammad Ali. In one bout, his opponent insisted on calling him by his original name (Cassius Clay, i think). Ali beat him and kept asking him this question...
